I was worried after reading the previous reviews . I went on to the NC DMV website , researched what paperwork I needed and prepped for my visit. I had more paperwork than required but more is better than not enough. I called to confirm hours so I did not waste a trip leaving work early, phone was answered on 3rd ring. When I got there they were not very busy and I got up to the counter quickly. I purchased plate, paid tax ,etc and was out in under 15 mins.
Phone never gets answered. Most all the lady's act as though they have more important things to do than their job.Half ass answer your questions so when you return once again your turned away. Don't ask to speak to the manager or owner she is a witch. Lines out the door and she just stood there with her hands on her hips. They are slow and I'm not sure some even know what they are doing. Sadly the one young lady Amy that always helped me left. She was always nice and helped as much as she could and she was fast. I'm sure I'm not the first to say it but they need her back.
I had no problem, no wait. I got in and out in less than 3 min
My daughter totaled her car, no fault & no ticket. Made a 2nd required trip to x-fer tags. Was told by insurance that transfer would be discounted with the "Statement of Total Loss". She told clerk that to which the clerk asked her if she had it. Daughter showed it to her & clerk simply responded "$20". It is a shame when you can't ask questions for fear you will incur a public service person's wrath. She also had just paid inspection fee in March & now had to pay again. Even if state can't assist tax payers in a stressful, costly situation seems that they could at least provide some decent customer service. Ended up costing approximately $500 for being run off the road by a truck that didn't stop. State Trooper and Tow Truck driver were awesome! This plate agency in Elizabeth City is the worst example of assistance & customer service.
My son and I went in their today. The wait wasn't bad. But the service of an older African American lady there turned her head and laughed at me when I asked for a scrap piece of paper to write down what I needed to do, so the next time we came In, we have completed all the steps to switch over the title, plates and pay my son's property tax. The total lack of respect for customers, rude and nasty. Even though they are privately owned. The mayor will be informed of how the employees of this establishment treat everyday people in this area. I am sure Mayor Peel will be very disheartened to know as representatives of this great city this is the treatment we receive. Action needs to be taken, if not I am sure Wavy tv 10 news would enjoy this story.
