I regretfully write this review as Elizabeth City public services have overall served our city well and I'm thankful for them. I have received great customer service from those behind the counter at the Post Office, so thank you. Yet, I've had an experience with the Postmaster in the last month that until this point, I thought might be able to be resolved behind the scenes, but is hasn’t.
Anita is the sweetest lady! Thank you for helping us with our concerns, we really appreciate your help!
I just got home from work and have a mail box full....of my neighbor's mail. I have had this issue repeatedly but NO ONE will do anything to correct it. Supervisors are extremely rude and totally unprofessional. They subcontract our delivery service so they do not have to be held accountable. If you try talking to the driver (subcontractor) about it you won't get ANY mail! I've tried. The last time I complained, I missed several bills and cards. I know 3 people who sent sympathy cards that had them returned with "not at this address" and "not able to deliver". (MY name and MY address on the envelopes) I am curious as to who may have MY mail today, since I didn't get any of my own! SOMETHING needs to be done!
Have yet to receive any of our mail and packages on time- when the mail does show up its close to six at night or later. They say they attempted to deliver packages yet we witnessed the driver pull up then back out because it was raining, they refused to deliver the package. Later that evening I received an email stating they attempted delivery, when that was not the case. The driver refused to do their job. We have been nothing but patient, however this postal office is a complete joke- I will be taking this hire then this postal office due to the management also being impossible and rude.
Received an email stating “failed delivery attempt” on a package. What is frustrating is that no one ever showed up at my home. I was home all day with the windows open and the front door open and no one ever even pulled in my driveway. So my question is did the delivery drivers look out side and see the rain and make the decision to just not try to even deliver my package and then just send me that email, or did they just hope that I wouldn’t be home and would believe this? So glad that a federal company can just do what ever they want and then try to treat the customers like they are stupid.
I arrived at the Elizabeth City Post Office around 4:15pm and the line was a bit long. At close of business (4:30pm) I and several others were still in line. The custom had been for as long as I've lived here that a gentleman locks the door to prevent more people from entering after hours and unlocks the door as each person finishes their postal business. This particular evening, a man I'd not seen prior to this incident, locked the door and walked away into the back. I finished my business there around 4:33pm and went to the door to walk out and it was locked. The persons behind the counter rang the bell several times, the people in line were knocking on the door to get the man to come back and about 8 minutes passed and then the man who'd locked the door came back. At this point, I was in a bit of a panic as we were locked in a building and no one was responding. I said to this man who had locked the door, "This is not OK to lock people in a building a walk away." He replied, "Well maybe you'll show up earlier next time and you won't get locked in." I told him to please open the door and he replied, "No, let's talk about this." I said I had nothing to talk about and to please open the door. By this point others were also asking him to please open the door and he was ignoring them as well. I finally said, "You know this is illegal and a fire hazard, right?" Without saying anything further, he opened the door. It was 4:43pm (13 minutes from the time he locked the door @ 4:30pm). I went back to make a complaint and found out that this man was the Postmaster (Derek E. Boone) and he was the one I would have to make the complaint to. I left a message with the person above him and haven't received a response. I feel like this incident was NOT OK and most certainly is a civil violation of our rights.
